Boarding Details & FAQ

- value consistency, communication, and individualized management
- have a horse that does best in a calm environment
- appreciate a boutique setting over a high-traffic barn

- are looking for a one-size-fits-all boarding setup
Do you welcome all riding styles?
Yes. We welcome compatible horses and owners from a variety of riding backgrounds and goals. Whether you enjoy trail riding, pleasure riding, groundwork, dressage, conditioning work, retirement care, or showing, our focus is on providing quality daily care in a respectful and well-managed environment.
What types of horses are the best fit?
We are especially well-suited for horses who do well in a calm environment and owners who value attentive management, individualized care, and quality over quantity. Fit matters to us, both for the horse and for the overall barn environment.
What will daily care include?
Planned daily care is designed to support consistency, comfort, and practical horse management. Owners will be able to review what is included in board, along with available add-on services, before joining the program. Daily care is expected to include feeding, hay management, water checks, stall cleaning, turnout coordination, blanketing needs, and basic holding or service coordination as outlined by the farm.
Turnout & Pasture Management
At Greymere Farm, turnout is an important part of our care philosophy. We believe horses benefit from consistent access to turnout, thoughtful pasture management, and an environment that supports both physical health and mental well-being.
We offer both individual and group turnout based on the best fit for each horse’s temperament, needs, and overall compatibility. Full-day and half-day turnout options are available, along with dry lot accommodations when appropriate.
During periods of wet weather, turnout may be adjusted to protect pasture condition and maintain safe footing. Hay is provided during times when turnout is limited or horses are not able to be turned out.
Our turnout setup currently includes 1/2-acre pastures, with plans for future expansion into additional 1-acre lots. We are also exploring long-term options such as a track system to support movement and pasture management.
Turnout areas feature a mix of wood fencing and ElectroBraid. Run-in stalls can also be closed off with gates and used as night stalls or rehab stalls as needed. Standard stalls are 12′ x 12′, and two stalls can be combined into a 12′ x 24′ rehab or foaling stall when needed.
Feeding & Supplements
At Greymere Farm, we believe feeding should be thoughtful, consistent, and tailored to the individual horse whenever possible. Nutritional care can be adjusted to support each horse’s condition, workload, age, and overall needs.
We currently feed primarily endophyte-free fescue-orchard grass hay and aim to provide forage at approximately 1.5% to 2.5% of body weight daily, based on the horse’s individual needs. Hay is generally fed twice daily, with flexibility for horses requiring a more customized approach. Boarders may also provide their own hay if preferred.
Boarders are asked to supply their own grain. Owner-provided supplements are welcome and can be fed according to each horse’s routine. Extra feedings may be arranged when needed. Soaked grain is available at no additional charge. Medication administration and certain specialized feeding or care needs may be available for an additional fee depending on the situation.
Riding Access & Off-Site Options
Greymere Farm is designed to support a range of riding goals, from quiet hacking and conditioning work to off-site trail riding and show travel. Our location makes it convenient for boarders who enjoy both a peaceful home base and access to broader riding opportunities.
On-site, Greymere Farm currently offers 8.5 acres of property and a quiet, horse-friendly neighborhood that is well-suited for hacking and light riding. A full-size 20m x 60m outdoor dressage arena with all-weather footing is planned for Fall 2026 as part of the farm’s continued development. For boarders who enjoy getting out and about, Greymere Farm is also well-positioned for access to local trail riding, schooling opportunities, and larger regional equestrian venues.
Health & Barn Requirements
At Greymere Farm, we believe a safe and well-managed boarding environment starts with clear health standards, responsible horse ownership, and consistent communication. To help protect the well-being of all horses on the property, boarders will be expected to follow farm health and barn policies.
While full policy details will be shared as the boarding program moves closer to opening, general requirements are expected to include a current negative Coggins, up-to-date vaccinations, compliance with any deworming or fecal testing protocols, and routine farrier and veterinary care maintained by the owner. Boarders will also be expected to keep current emergency and veterinary contact information on file and to communicate clearly about any medical concerns, special care needs, or changes in their horse’s condition. Additional expectations regarding trailer parking and outside trainers will also be outlined as part of the boarding program.
Waitlist & Inquiry Expectations
Because we are building a smaller, quality-focused program, we use an inquiry and fit-based process rather than a high-volume approach. Prospective boarders can join the waitlist and share their horse’s needs, riding goals, and timing so we can determine whether Greymere Farm may be the right fit.
Future Specialty and Add-On Services
Additional services may be available to boarders for an added fee once operations begin. Planned add-on services may include:
- Exercise rides or lunging
- Grooming
- Daily medical care, including antibiotics, wrapping, and wound treatment
- Additional feedings
- Holding for the farrier or veterinarian
