Small-Scale Horse Boarding with Personalized Care

Greymere Farm horse boarding property in Burlington North Carolina

Greymere Farm is a small-scale horse boarding farm focused on personalized care, thoughtful management, and a quiet, horse-first environment.

Our goal is to create a well-managed boarding program where horses can thrive, and owners feel informed, respected, and supported. Whether your focus is trail riding, pleasure riding, dressage, groundwork, conditioning, retirement, or competition, Greymere Farm is designed around quality care, clear communication, and the right fit for both horse and owner.

Because our program is intentionally small, availability is limited, and placement is based on horse compatibility, care needs, and overall fit for the farm environment.

Current Boarding Availability

Full-care board setting at Greymere Farm

Greymere Farm currently has one full-care pasture board opening available for the right horse and owner fit.

This option is best suited for a horse who does well living primarily outside with access to shelter, routine monitoring, feeding, hay as needed, and consistent owner communication.

Limited full-care stall board is not yet active, but one stall board opening is anticipated to become available this fall as Greymere Farm completes the next phase of facility development.

Is Greymere Farm Right for You?

Greymere Farm may be a great fit if you:

  • want a smaller, quiet, care-focused farm
  • value consistency, communication, and individualized management
  • have a horse that does best in a calm environment
  • appreciate a thoughtfully managed boarding setting over a high-traffic barn
  • are comfortable with a fit-based inquiry process

Greymere Farm may not be the best fit if you:

  • Need a full-care stall board immediately
  • prefer a large show-barn atmosphere
  • want a high-volume facility with frequent daily traffic and activity
  • are looking for a one-size-fits-all boarding setup

Do You Welcome All Riding Styles?

Yes. We welcome compatible horses and owners from a variety of riding backgrounds and goals.

Whether you enjoy trail riding, pleasure riding, groundwork, dressage, conditioning work, retirement care, or showing, our focus is on providing quality daily care in a respectful and well-managed environment.

What Types of Horses Are the Best Fit?

Greymere Farm is especially well-suited for horses who do well in a calm environment and owners who value attentive management, individualized care, and quality over quantity.

Fit matters to us, both for the horse and for the overall barn environment. Our inquiry process helps us better understand each horse’s needs, routine, temperament, and care requirements before confirming placement.

Turnout & Pasture Management

At Greymere Farm, turnout is an important part of our care philosophy. We believe horses benefit from consistent access to turnout, thoughtful pasture management, and an environment that supports both physical health and mental well-being.

We offer both individual and group turnout based on the best fit for each horse’s temperament, needs, and overall compatibility. Full-day and half-day turnout options may be available, along with dry lot accommodations when appropriate.

During periods of wet weather, turnout may be adjusted to protect pasture condition and maintain safe footing. Hay is provided during times when turnout is limited or when horses are not able to be turned out.

Our turnout setup currently includes 1/2-acre pastures, with plans for future expansion into additional 1-acre lots. We are also exploring long-term options such as a track system to support movement and pasture management.

Turnout areas feature a mix of wood fencing and ElectroBraid. Run-in stalls can also be closed off with gates and used as night stalls or rehab stalls as needed. Standard stalls are 12′ x 12′, and two stalls can be combined into a 12′ x 24′ rehab or foaling stall when needed.

Feeding & Supplements

At Greymere Farm, feeding is thoughtful, consistent, and tailored to the individual horse whenever possible. Nutritional care can be adjusted to support each horse’s condition, workload, age, and overall needs.

We currently feed endophyte-free fescue-orchard grass hay primarily and aim to provide forage at approximately 1.5% to 2.5% of body weight daily, based on the horse’s individual needs. Hay is generally fed twice daily, with flexibility for horses requiring a more customized approach. Boarders may also provide their own hay if preferred.

Boarders are asked to supply their own grain. Owner-provided supplements are welcome and can be fed according to each horse’s routine.

Extra feedings may be arranged when needed. Soaked grain is available at no additional charge. Medication administration and certain specialized feeding or care needs may be available for an additional fee, depending on the situation.

Hay arrangements may affect monthly pricing. When Greymere Farm supplies winter hay, a seasonal hay charge may apply. Approved owner-supplied hay arrangements may qualify for a board adjustment during the approved period.

Riding Access & Off-Site Options

Greymere Farm is designed to support a range of riding goals, from quiet hacking and conditioning work to off-site trail riding and show travel.

On-site, Greymere Farm currently offers 8.5 acres of property and a quiet, horse-friendly neighborhood that is well-suited for hacking and light riding. A full-size 20m x 60m outdoor dressage arena with all-weather footing is planned for Fall 2026 as part of the farm’s continued development.Horse-friendly riding area at Greymere Farm

Greymere Farm is located in Southern Alamance County with access to both local riding opportunities and larger regional equestrian destinations. Boarders can enjoy nearby options such as Cedarock Equestrian Center and Sport of Horses Park, while also being within reach of Carolina Horse Park and the Sandhills trail network at The Walthour-Moss Foundation.

For travel to larger shows and events across North Carolina, Greymere Farm is also conveniently positioned for venues such as the Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex, Pinehurst Harness Track, and Tryon International Equestrian Center.

Health & Barn Requirements

A safe and well-managed boarding environment starts with clear health standards, responsible horse ownership, and consistent communication.

To help protect the well-being of all horses on the property, boarders will be expected to follow farm health and barn policies. General requirements are expected to include:

  • current negative Coggins
  • up-to-date vaccinations
  • compliance with deworming or fecal testing protocols
  • The owner maintains routine farrier and veterinary care
  • current emergency and veterinary contact information on file
  • clear communication about medical concerns, special care needs, or changes in the horse’s condition

Additional expectations regarding trailer parking, outside trainers, farm access, and barn policies will be outlined as part of the boarding process.

Future Specialty and Add-On Services

Additional services may be available to boarders for an added fee once operations begin.

Planned add-on services may include:

  • exercise rides or lunging
  • grooming
  • additional feedings
  • holding for the farrier or veterinarian
  • medication administration
  • daily medical care support, such as antibiotics, wrapping, or wound care, when appropriate

Availability of add-on services will depend on the horse’s needs, staff availability, and whether the care request is a good fit for the farm.

Waitlist & Inquiry Expectations

Because Greymere Farm is a smaller, quality-focused program, we use an inquiry and fit-based process rather than a high-volume approach.

Prospective boarders can request information or join the waitlist by sharing their horse’s needs, riding goals, care requirements, and timing. This helps us determine whether Greymere Farm may be the right fit for both horse and owner.
